This year I won’t be able to visit GIMS but since almost all my friends from the automotive industry are there I’m living the experience through their pictures and videos 🙂
Here’s what I found interesting so far:
The all-electric Jaguar I-PACE has been voted ‘Car of the Year’ at the European Car of the Year Awards 2019 – the first time a Jaguar has won the coveted prize.
The all-electric Jaguar I-PACE has been voted ‘Car of the Year’ at the European Car of the Year Awards 2019. This is the first time a Jaguar has won the coveted prize.
The European Car of the Year jury comprises 60 motoring journalists from 23 countries, and the award recognizes technical innovation, design, performance, efficiency, and value for money.
Prof. Dr. Ralf Speth, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover, said:
For our first electric vehicle to also be the first Jaguar to win European Car of the Year gives us a huge sense of pride.
I-PACE was designed and engineered in the UK from a clean sheet of paper. It is the most technologically advanced battery electric vehicle. It’s a true game-changer. Winning European Car of the Year is an honour and real recognition of what our world-class team has delivered.
Designed and developed in the UK, the Jaguar I-PACE has had profound sales success globally, with more than 8,000 customer deliveries to date – 75 percent of them in Europe.
The Jaguar I-PACE is engineered to take full advantage of its electric powertrain and bespoke aluminum architecture, offering sports car performance and SUV practicality.
Charging is made easy for customers using the Jaguar public charging service, accessed via a dedicated app or using an RFID key. With tailor-made charging packages and tariffs compiled into a simple monthly bill, it gives I-PACE customers access to more than 85,000 charging points throughout Europe.
The I-PACE has received 55 awards worldwide since it was revealed a year ago, including German, Norwegian and UK Car of the Year, BBC TopGear magazine EV of the Year, China Green Car of the Year, and Autobest’s ECOBEST Award.
Aston Martin unveiled their Lagonda All-Terrain Concept car, an ultra-stylish, supremely luxurious, fully electric vehicle that aims to be the world’s first zero emission luxury brand.
Aston Martin Lagonda has taken the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show by storm with three global debuts.
The Lagonda All-Terrain Concept, the Vanquish Vision Concept, and AM-RB 003 were all revealed during the luxury brand’s live press conference, hosted by TV and Radio presenter Maya Jama and automotive lifestyle influencer Mr. JWW.
Built around near-future technologies such as its advanced Battery Electric drivetrain, the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept is an ultra-stylish, supremely luxurious, fully electric emission-free vehicle that can transport its occupants to remote and spectacular locations. It develops the designs and materials seen in last year’s widely acclaimed Lagonda Vision Concept, tailoring them for the new and challenging environments that an all-terrain vehicle is capable of reaching. Lagonda aims to be the world’s first zero emission luxury brand.
Continuing its march into the manufacture of mid-engined hypercars, Aston Martin proudly presented AM-RB 003 – the third hypercar in the automaker’s mid-engined journey.
Both evolutionary and revolutionary, AM-RB 003 will incorporate concepts and technologies taken directly from F1 and applied to the epoch-making Aston Martin Valkyrie. Though making greater concessions to practicality and road use, Project 003 will remain true to that uncompromising engineering ethos, extending the trickle down of genuine state-of-the-art F1 technology into a car built in larger, but still strictly limited numbers, and making a design statement that’s second to none.
Completing the trio of debuts saw the introduction of the Vanquish Vision Concept, a tantalizing preview of Aston Martin’s first series production mid-engined supercar.
Reviving an iconic nameplate traditionally reserved for Aston Martin’s flagship production model, the advanced design study provides further evidence of the proudly British brand’s intent to compete in one of the most hotly contested market sectors in the automotive world – one traditionally defined by Italian supercar makers – with this Gaydon built offering.
First AM-RB 003 cars are set for late 2021, with the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept and Vanquish Vision Concept scheduled to go into production in 2022.

Automobili Pininfarina revealed Battista – the world’s first luxury electric hyper performance GT Faster than a current Formula 1 race car.
A revolution in automotive performance, design, and collaboration is revealed with the Pininfarina Battista – the world’s first luxury electric hyper performance GT.
Built in Italy, the Battista will be the most powerful Italian-made car of all time. When it arrives in 2020 it will deliver a level of performance that is unachievable today in any road-legal sports car featuring internal combustion engine technology. Faster than a current Formula 1 race car in its 0 -100 km/h sub-two the second sprint, and with 1,900 hp and 2,300 Nm torque to hand, Battista will combine extreme engineering and technology in a zero-emissions package.
2020 also marks the 90th anniversary of the legendary Pininfarina SpA design house, which has taken the design brief for the Battista and produced a classic Pininfarina: an elegant form that seamlessly integrates the car’s innovative engineering solutions that will support unprecedented performance. It is the same design principle of form and function in harmony as seen in classic Pininfarina cars reaching back to the Cisitalia 202 of 1947 and through more than 60 Ferraris, with the latest launched this decade.
The Pininfarina Battista’s place in automotive history is defined by its name. It is the first in a future range of purely electric, zero-emissions, luxury cars solely branded Pininfarina, delivering on a long-held family dream that has been carried by founder, Battista, his son Sergio and current Pininfarina SpA Chairman.
Automobili Pininfarina CEO, Michael Perschke:
“This is the most authentic and exciting automotive story imaginable. Battista is the hypercar of the future, inspired by a legendary past. It combines true inspiration and innovation in its technical achievement and emotional appeal. Electrification unlocks the door to a new level of performance and a zero-emissions future, whilst a passion and respect for automotive history will define how this landmark car looks and feels. We aim for Battista to be a future classic and automotive icon, writing its own page in automotive history books.”
The ingredients for success reach further than statistics and history. A group of automotive experts, the like of which have never been assembled before within a new car company, are working for Automobili Pininfarina with Pininfarina SpA and an enviable list of technology partners headed by the likes of Rimac and Pirelli. The result is that the Battista will arrive next year with expertise and inspiration from a team that has been integral to the launches of cars such as the Bugatti Veyron and Chiron, Ferrari Sergio, Lamborghini Urus, McLaren P1, Mercedes AMG-Project One, Pagani Zonda and Porsche Mission E.
The resulting hypercar appeals to the world’s automotive connoisseurs from a purely technical and aesthetic standpoint, and also because of its rarity. No more than 150 Battistas will be hand-crafted in Italy and allocated equally between the regions of North America, Europe, and the Middle East/Asia. Exceptional customer service will be delivered with plans for opportunities to fully personalize each car at Pininfarina SpA’s Cambiano headquarters, and for the car to be made available through some of the world’s best luxury car retail specialists, from Los Angeles to London to Tokyo.
The Battista will set new standards in performance and desirability for an electric car. It will be the first poster car for the EV-generation and the halo model for a range of luxury electric cars from Automobili Pininfarina. It is more than simply a new car reveal, but a pivotal moment in time for the new automotive environment: the first zero-emissions, Italian luxury car, and brand.
